graphite drawing of our Great Dane, Gershwin.

update: we had to say good bye to Gershwin in July of 05 at the age of 13. He was dealing with a degenerative spinal condition for the last couple of years and his quality of life had finally crossed a point where it wasn't fair to him to keep him with us. He was a huge part of our lives and it will never be the same without him. But we found out a month later that my wife was pregnant and we're certain Gerswin had a hand (or paw) in sending us our first child. So much so that we passed on Gershwin's middle name (we always called him Gershwin Andrew-especially when he was bad!) onto our son.
Sleep well our son.

Great Danes are the most beautiful specimens of the large dog section of dog breeds. I personally am a novice breeder. My 1 year and 3 month old great dane femme is a brindle breed and she always gives me that look when I say something that surprises her. They've very very talkative creatures if not through their mumbling speech then through their facial expression and body talk. Being a lover of this breed and of art I'm ecstatic to see this. I think you captured one of their many expression beautifully! I love it. Thank you for sharing this on DA

Am I the only one who finds this little bit hilarious? She (?) looks so very surprised and shocked. But I love it still, your work on the fur is excellent!
